GAMEWEEK 34 DEADLINE: SATURDAY, 11:00 GMT
Last week it was Son, this week it was Ronaldo. If you didn’t have, you pretty much had a bad week. The Have and Have Nots, or as I’m calling them this week, Team Ferguson and Team Dalglish… the only consolation for people who captained Bruno Fernandes this week (he’s not even the best Bruno in the league at the mo) is that this poll on the combined XI by Sky for the Utd vs Liverpool game is… quite funny:
This week: Chelsea have a Double Gameweek this week so their assets are hot, a special look at Alonso, bargain players if you need cash, Villa fixtures, a few Wildcards going off so a couple of drafts, what to do with Man Utd… and sparing a thought for Harry Kane.
Chelsea Double this week - but who to pick?
So do Man Utd, but let’s deal with that hot mess later. Chelsea’s Double this week (and another in two weeks’ time) mean their players are top of the shopping list. They have West Ham (H) and Man Utd (a). So who should be your Chelsea picks?
Here’s a predicted points model until the end of the season for Chelsea players - it’s based on data model from fplreview.com - which is free to use if you have a minute. James, Mount and Havertz come out on top - or Rudiger if you want an extra defender who always plays. The left field option is (don’t laugh) Werner, who - despite getting a post-bar-post hat-trick recently, is playing centrally thanks to a formation change. If you need more on this, there’s a great THREAD here.
Alonso is suddenly a thing again
Marcos Alonso is a classic fantasy football cult hero. You see him on the pitch and so often he is the glaring weak link. But he plays so advanced that when he plays he has huge points potential. The interest now comes after Tuchel talked about Reece James playing in a three at the back to save his legs after his injury, making him less attacking. Alonso is a punt though - his minutes aren’t assured, so a high risk, high upside pick. This data is over the season:
Some options if you’re strapped for cash - & remember Villa
If you need some cash, here’s some good options for the rest of the season. Remember Aston Villa have two Double Gameweeks coming up at the end of the season and Norwich next week, so they are worth looking at (Coutinho back?).

Fulham are up & we’re already looking at Mitrovic
Yes, strikers have been so bad this season that bad that we’re (or I am) already looking at a striker from the Championship who has already failed in the Prem before to help us out next time round. Anyway, well done Fulham…
Spare a thought for Harry…
Another player heading to the Prem next year is Haaland, by all accounts. I’d expect him to come in at about £12m on FPL. What could’ve been for our Harry. There’s always Newcastle.
It’s a big Wildcard week
Yes, some people really saved it this long. The tight fight means you can load up on top teams. Basically most Wildcard drafts have three Chelsea, Double City defence, TAA and Salah. Leicester have extra games, so Dewsbury-Hall is cheap, or Maddison and Barnes are the points getters.
Another below, which goes more attacking on Man City. There’s a huge decision to be made about De Bruyne. Many drafts go without Kane/Son - they did blank in the last game vs Brighton and it’s unlikely you’ll captain them more than once for the rest of the season. But the below includes Son. If you’re planning a Wildcard that takes into account a Bench Boost soon, check this site out.
It could be a good week to take a points hit
A point made by top Indian FPL manager, Pranil Seth. Every extra transfer is -4 points. If you want it to pay off with five Gameweeks left, doing an extra move now for the run-in probably makes sense.

Sticking with Salah…
Some brave people have been ditching Salah for some time as a result of his lack of returns. We discussed last week, however, that his data was still good - and his points vs Man Utd showed how dangerous he remains. A stat posted before last night’s Man Utd game below summing it up. I’ll be sticking with him until the death. If you ditch for De Bruyne or the Son/Kane combo, good luck…

Man Utd are that bad - even for a Double
Last week, I was making the point that United aren’t as bad, in terms of their data, that the general narrative would have you believe. It’s true that they scored three in a terrible display against Norwich, but Liverpool showed their huge shortcomings. They have a Double this week - Arsenal (a) and Chelsea (H) - but unless you have a player already, it’s hard to justify bringing in any of their options.
Phil Foden went to the Co-op and it made news
What were you thinking, Phil. Lynx? Really? You’re not a 14-year-old going to the school disco.
